Jen Rehill (Poynter)

Lehigh Valley, September 16, 2022 –– LehighValleyNews.com Director of News Jen Rehill has been selected for the Poynter Leadership Academy for Women in Media, a program designed for women and nonbinary journalists who directly manage people. She was chosen from a global pool of highly qualified journalists and will join 30 other professionals who possess a similar dedication to their craft.

“I am so grateful for this incredible opportunity, and the timing of this recognition couldn’t be more relevant,” said Rehill. “It is a privilege to participate in the Poynter academy as our organization prepares to launch a major news initiative for our community.”

The Poynter Institute is well known for the exceptional training and guidance it provides in newsroom leadership. These new cohorts will learn from a diverse group of speakers and participate in various workshops on subjects like the culture of innovation, positive change management, work-life balance, and conflict resolution tactics. Participants will learn to cultivate self-awareness, belongingness, empathy, leadership potential, and other valuable qualities that can help shape the future of women in the field.

“Our latest group of news leaders was assembled with an eye to their tenure in journalism. Averaging 15 years in the newsroom, they are among the most seasoned cohorts to join us at Poynter,” said Doris Truong, Poynter Institute director of teaching and diversity strategies. “Because of their time in the industry, we expect they will be eager to share their unique perspectives and to learn from and lift up one another.”

The Leadership Academy for Women in Media is among the most competitive of all Poynter programs, with attendees chosen based on multiple rounds of review with an emphasis on diversity across race, ethnicity, geography, age, platform/medium, organization size, and expertise to further enrich the participant experience.
