Lehigh Valley Public Media Announces Plans to Launch LehighValleyNews.com in October 2022

LEHIGH VALLEY, PA. – September 8, 2022 - Lehigh Valley Public Media (LVPM) has announced that this October it will launch LehighValleyNews.com, the region’s new go-to source for in-depth local news and information.

With a newsroom of more than 20 reporters and content producers, the region’s only non-profit and locally owned digital news source will offer daily, breaking and investigated news at no charge to the public. The website will be funded by community sponsors and a premium membership model for readers who want to support the future of local journalism while accessing exclusive content and members-only events.

“We believe accessible, local news is essential for a community to thrive,” said Lehigh Valley Public Media Chief Operating Officer Yoni Greenbaum. “We have gathered a truly exceptional team of local news reporters who will support our organization’s vision to create a vibrant community that is connected, informed, inspired, and engaged.

LehighValleyNews.com is currently available to the public as an informational preview page and interested readers can sign up to be notified when the local news website officially goes live.

Lehigh Valley Public Media conducted third-party research to better understand the news perception and consumption habits of residents in the Lehigh Valley. A key finding from that research was that a clear majority of 25-to-44-year-olds in the region were open to an additional news source and that 88% of those respondents view the internet as the most important source for local news.

In June 2022, Lehigh Valley Public Media announced that it was making a significant investment to create a digital online platform that would expand the organization’s existing portfolio of media assets, which include PBS39 (the Lehigh Valley’s public television station) and 91.3 WLVR (the Lehigh Valley’s all day, every day NPR news station).

LehighValleyNews.com will be led by a strong editorial team and provide coverage across more than a dozen editorial beats, including Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Lehigh and Northampton Counties, East Penn, Parkland, Nazareth, Arts & Culture, Business & Finance, Consumer Affairs, Criminal Justice, Education, Environment & Science, and Health & Wellness. Lehigh Valley Public Media is actively recruiting for digital producer positions, and interested applicants can apply here.

LehighValleyNews.com has also launched social media accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram at @LVNewsdotcom.
